What if you could turn your everyday experiences into a visual language? In this hands-on workshop with Meera Abdulrahim Salem, you will decode your own emotions, routines and data into maps, symbols and form. Using colour, grids and layout, you will build a personal visual system that tells your story in a way words can’t. Draw from how designers translate the invisible into the visible, then make it your own.
No rules. Just experimentation, play and expressive mapping!
This programme is organised by Assembly 2025-2026 member Poorvaja Subramanian as part of the Youth Takeover 2026.
Meera Abdulrahim Salem is an interdisciplinary artist and genetic counselor. Developing research-based visual tools for public health genetics initiatives in the UAE, she translates complex human genetic concepts into accessible forms, balancing creative inquiry with scientific rigour.
Poorvaja Subramanian is a graphic designer whose work spans brand identities, visual systems, exhibition identity and publications. Through narrative and storytelling, she explores the essence of each project, exploring how personal and collective histories take shape through time, often using play and experimentation as her primary tool.
